With the roadless rule bogged down in the courts, Bush-era officials at the Forest Service are moving ahead with plans to allow chainsaws and bulldozers into some of our nation’s most pristine forests. We’re calling on Tom Vilsack, Obama’s new Secretary of Agriculture, to stop these destructive plans right now.

Letter * Dear Secretary Vilsack, Please put a halt to Bush-era plans for new mining, logging, and drilling in our pristine national forests. Our national forests protect clean water, preserve undisturbed wildlife habitat, and provide backcountry recreational opportunities for millions of Americans. As you know, President Obama supports the “roadless rule” that has protected these forests. But forest service officials are moving ahead with Bush-era plans to allow logging and drilling of our pristine forests in Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon.
