With world leaders coming together in Copenhagen in December to sit down and try to come up with a plan to stop global warming, we've released a new video featuring Cedric the Entertainer, Alanis Morissette, Chevy Chase, Simon Baker, Kathryn Morris, Jason Mraz and others.  Share this video with your friends -- send them an e-mail, post the link on Facebook, Twitter and your blog . . . because we've got our work cut out for us if we want to make history in Copenhagen.  Take action.

What's at stake

More and more Americans are concerned about what global warming will mean for the health and well-being of future generations. Environment America is working in the states and at the federal level to reduce global warming pollution by at least 35 percent by 2020—the science-based reductions needed to protect future generations.

Environment America has been instrumental in passing global warming solutions at the state level, including statewide limits on global warming pollution in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington, global warming emission standards for cars in 14 states, and regional limits on global warming emissions from power plants in the Northeast and Northwest. At the same time, we have been building support for strong federal action on global warming.

Urge Your Senators to Support Strong Global Warming Legislation

On November 5, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee passed the Clean Energy Jobs and America Power Act (S. 1733).

The bill is one big step to a clean energy future.  And it’s an improvement on the House bill that passed with our support in June.  It includes deeper cuts in global warming pollution and no strings to tie the EPA’s hand in cleaning up old, dirty power plants and other big carbon polluters.

But Big Oil, Dirty Coal, and other polluters are working tirelessly to delay the transition to clean energy.  Send an email to your Senators now urging them to support a strong bill to stop the worst effects of global warming and move America to clean energy, which will make America more energy independent and repower our economy with millions of green jobs that can't be shipped overseas.

Take Action.

Plug-In Cars: Powering America Toward a Cleaner Future 1/20/2010

For more than 50 years, the automobile has played a central and ever-growing role in American life. Up until recently, much of the major American automakers business model was been built around the sale of large cars and SUVs. Now, a decade into the 21st century, automakers appear to be serious about electric vehicles as the next wave of automotive technology. “Plug-In Cars, Powering America toward a Cleaner Future,” a new white paper by Environment America, gives an overview of plug-in electric cars and how they can lower global warming emissions, oil consumption and unhealthy air pollution and lays out a plan for how local, state and federal officials can increase the number of electric vehicles on the road.
