Students in Wisconsin and Massachusetts help advance global warming bills
Working with the our partners, the Student PIRGs, in Wisconsin and Massachusetts, college students have been lobbying their state legislators, generating media coverage and building public support for statewide legislation that would cap global warming pollution in both states. Recent hearings in both states were packed with student activists who have been generating hundreds of letters and phone calls into legislators' offices.
Student's Taking the Lead
We have almost everything we need to solve global warming. We already have cars that get 100 miles per gallon and the technology to get almost all of our energy from clean sources like wind and solar power. We can stop global warming if we get enough people involved to build the political support to putt these solutions into action.
That's where students come in. Young people turned out in record numbers in the recent election and helped demand real solutions to global warming. Now we have to follow through and make sure we get the chance we need. While we're making sure our politicians get it right, we're making sure we are doing our part to stop global warming on campus, too. The bottom line is that we're not waiting around; our chance to solve global warming is now.
