Job Description: Web Developer

Serve as primary web developer for 50+ of the nations top political and environmental organizations. Work with graphic designers, internet organizers, message developers and issue advocates to build new web sites, create new tools, improve designs, navigation and functionality.

Drive top priority projects as the network expands their online operations. Help groups raise more money, having a bigger impact, attract more visitors, create more visibility and recruit more volunteers through strategic improvements to their web sites. 

Keep things running smoothly. Work with small team of web professional to administer servers, maintain security and plan for future growth and stability of this expanding network of sites. Train professional advocates and organizers to update their own sites using our content management system (web GUI). 

BASIC SKILLS

• Background in computer science and two years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with server administration
• Experience programming web applications (we commonly use Perl, PHP, Ruby and Python)
• Some basic knowledge of our CMS (web GUI) is a plus.

• Leadership skills: Help to oversee web associates and interns

TRAINING

• A 2-day orientation when you start
• A 3-day team-wide training twice a year.
• Opportunities throughout the year to cross-train with the rest of our network’s staff.
• Ongoing training through interaction with and feedback from your staff director and others.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The entry-level salary is $23,750 and includes the option to participate in our health care program, two weeks paid vacation, student loan repayment assistance and after year one, participation in our retirement program.
