Online Organizing Software Developer

Job Description: Online Organizing Software Developer

Are you a software developer who wants to use your skills to save the environment? Do you want to develop programs that let citizens have more of a say in how our leaders make decisions about our clean air, clean water and open spaces? If so, we have a unique and exciting career opportunity for you.

We're fighting to save special places like the Grand Canyon from oil drilling, protect our drinking water from toxic dumping and restore our economy by investing in green jobs and renewable energy.

We're mobilizing citizens around the country to help us protect our clean air, clean water and open spaces, and the internet is a critical part of how we're doing it. Our Internet Organizing department organizes hundreds of thousands of Americans to take action on the issues that matter most to our environment, from global warming to sprawl and over-development.  And we need software developers to help us do it.

Software developers on the Internet Organizing team maintain and build web applications like an interactive scorecard that allows activists to see how their elected officials voted on environmental legislation and to hold them accountable by taking action online.  They'll also use the most cutting-edge technology to create new applications that will draw website traffic and help us win victories on important environmental issues.

We're looking for candidates with outstanding problem solving skills, a can-do attitude, and a strong computer science background, including experience using open source software development tools and languages such as Linux, Subversion, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.

Work with a great team of people committed to making progressive social change and protecting our environment in our Denver office. Salary is based on your level of experience.
