Colorado Delegation Unites to Protect Rocky Mountain National Park

America’s future generations may owe Colorado’s congressional leaders a debt of thanks. Sens. Ken Salazar and Wayne Allard, with Reps. Mark Udall and Marilyn Musgrave, introduced a bill that will give Rocky Mountain National Park the gold standard in public lands protection.

Brief Summary
With its majestic snow-topped mountains, bounding grizzly bears and soaring bald eagles, Rocky Mountain National Park is a piece of America’s heritage. Still, the iconic park does not have the highest level of protection that our government grants for public lands.  Instead, for decades, Wilderness designation has been seated at the gate of the park, waiting for local and national political fights to die down. Without the protections of Wilderness designation, Rocky Mountain National Park has remained vulnerable to the whims of each administration. Now is the time to protect the park. Once the Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness Act passes, we can be sure that future generations will have the chance to experience this part of our natural heritage.
