Tell your senator to support science-based solutions to global warming
From wildfires in California, to severe drought across the South, to
endangered polar bears in the Arctic, we're getting a scary sneak
preview of what our future could look like.
The good news is that
we can prevent the worst effects of global warming with common sense
solutions like renewable energy and making cars go farther on a gallon
of gas.
The Senate is right now debating S. 2191, introduced by
Senators Joe Lieberman and John Warner, which would significantly cut
global warming pollution but stop short of the cuts needed to really
solve the problem. To solve global warming, the best science says we
need to reduce emissions by 15-20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.
Please call your senator and urge him or her to support amendments to strengthen the Lieberman-Warner bill.
If
you don't know your senators' names, that's ok.Just call
202-224-3121, and the operator will ask where you're from and then put
you through.
Here's a sample message you can leave: "Hi, my name
is ______, and I live in ______. I'm calling Senator ______ to urge
him/her to support amendments to strengthen S. 2191, the
Lieberman-Warner global warming bill, to ensure that it cuts global
warming pollution 15-20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. "
