I'm calling to urge Rep. ______ to vote support energy legislation that will raise gas mileage standards to 35 miles per gallon and require utilities to generate a minimum amount of electricity from renewable sources." America is too dependent on dirty sources of energy like coal and oil, causing global warming, exposing consumers to price spikes, and more.

The good news is that Congress is currently debating legislation that would move America towards a new energy future by generating more clean, renewable energy and making cars go farther on a gallon of gas.

State progress on clean energy

We helped enact energy-efficiency standards for a variety of products in 11 states. We've worked with 25 states to pass a renewable energy standards. And we've helped 12 states cut global warming pollution with clean cars programs. When enacted, these programs will reduce gasoline consumption by as much as 7.2 billion gallons per year in 2020 and save consumers up to $16.7 billion annually at the pump in 2020. Read more.
